Glacier Rond (D 45°-50°)

Posted: January 31, 2010 in Ski

There was a huge dump yesterday so Brendan, Mika and I got the first bin up the midi. We traversed round to the Cosmiques couloir but decided to ski the Rond as the top of the Cosmiques is still a bit empty and we couldn’t be bothered with the rappels.

The snow on the top of the face hadnt bonded that well and it was a little icy underneath so controling the spped and jump turns was the order of the day. The top of the exit couloir was a little rocky and we side slipped a few meters. After this the snow was bottom less but stable and the sking was probably the best i have had in a steep couloir. The glacier at the bottom of the couloir is very well filled and we skied all the way to town.
